ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A GREAT PARENTING COLUMN?

For more than 21 years the popular parenting column Coping with Kids has run weekly in the Oakland Press. In 2006, it started in Staten Island Advance, and also in many other newspaper published by the Journal Resister Company.

The features editor at the Oakland Press says that she has run Coping with Kids over so many other columns she could have used because Coping with Kids offers practical advice that parents can use immediately. She also says that the column is written by a warm, friendly and understanding therapist who has a vast knowledge of children – and parents.

WHY RUN COPING WITH KIDS IN YOUR NEWSPAPER?

Because parents love the column and it retains a solid, consistent readership. And because the author of Coping With Kids is knowledgeable and experienced.

Columnist James Windell has been a court clinical psychologist at the Sixth Circuit Court Family Division for more than 25 years. As a court clinical psychologist, he has developed and run an award-winning parent training program for parents of delinquents, and developed and operated both a treatment program for high conflict divorce parents and a group therapy program for teenagers on probation.

Furthermore, Windell has been a family therapist working with oppositional and difficult children and adolescents and their parents for several decades.

As a writer, he has written and published 12 books, including the best seller “8 Weeks to a Well-Behaved Child.” His newest parenting book is “The Fatherstyle Advantage: Surefire Techniques Every Parent Can Use to Raise Confident and Caring Children,” was published in 2006 by Stewart, Tabori and Chang. This book is a much-needed book celebrating the role of fathers in raising children.

Additionally, and helping to round out his unique perspective on child-rearing is Windell’s work as a criminal justice adjunct instructor at Wayne State University in Detroit, where his classes have consistently been filled to capacity over several years.

James Windell is married to an educator and speech therapist, was actively involved in raising two children, who are now adults, and has helped to raise a stepson is now a college student.
